Our firm consists of individuals with backgrounds in finance, real estate, and mineral exploration.
Collectively our shareholders have developed more than 90 projects with aggregate value in excess of US$1 billion and have an active pipeline of projects >US$4 billion. Our founding shareholders have partnered with best in class companies like Anglo American (Arc Minerals), Woolworth South Africa, New York Life Insurance, SLS Hotels, Related Group and many other notable companies. We have significant experience in African real estate, and deep experience managing regulator and community relations.
Carl Mbao
Carl Mbao is a Managing Partner and Co-founder at Frontier Capital Partners. Prior to FCP, Carl worked as Manager – Strategy at Bayport Financial Services, a mass market credit provider with over $800mm in loans and advances in 9 countries and backed by institutions such as Kinnevik, Helios Investment Partners and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation. At Bayport, he focused on analyzing, developing and implementing new business and product lines as well as evaluating financing alternatives for the company. His work included the greenfield implementation of a retail deposit mobilization business in Zambia, which subsequently grew to over $30mm in deposits during Mr. Mbao’s tenure. Prior to Bayport, Carl worked in investment banking and private equity in the United States. Carl received a BSBA with Honors from the University of Miami.
Spencer Morris
W.A. Spencer Morris is President of The Allen Morris Company, one of the largest real estate firms in Florida and in the Southeast. He is responsible for overseeing the investment portfolio and projects under development. The company currently has >$3 billion in its development pipeline, >700,000 square feet in office space, 200,000 in retail, 4,280 residential units, and 1,280 hotel rooms.
Prior to becoming President, he was Chief Investment Officer. Mr. Morris also worked on the conceptualisation of an entire district in Atlanta, Star Metals District, a pioneering mixed-use project that he feels deeply proud of. Spencer has a BA in Political Science from Boston College.
Mwiya Musokotwane
Mwiya Musokotwane co-founded Thebe, a real estate investment firm with assets of >US$300 million. At Thebe he has been responsible for conceptualizing and developing Nkwashi, a 3100 acre mixed use real estate development. Mwiya is also a co-founder of Frontier Capital Partners. Mwiya was a Forbes under 30 list maker in 2018, and has been a member of the Choiseul 200 list for the last 4 years. Prior to the formation of Thebe, Mwiya worked as an investment analyst at African Life Financial Services Zambia Ltd, a unit of South African Investment giant Sanlam (through its holdings in BIFM of Botswana). At African Life Mwiya was responsible for helping manage over US$400 million in assets under management, specifically the management of capital allocation across fixed income, equity, property and private equity asset classes. Mwiya has a BA in Finance from Richmond the American International University in London, as well as an MSc in International Business Management from The University of Surrey.
Kabeke Mulenga
Kabeke Mulenga is CEO of Citrine Limited, a holding company with interests in finance, real estate, mining and energy, among others. Since the mid 1990s, Citrine and its affiliates have pioneered new Zambian industries; including milling (Superior Milling), premium retail (Woolies) and disposable fashion (Mr Price). Citrine has interests in agriculture (Drakensberg Ranching), telecommunications (MTN Zambia), banking (Access Bank), and microfinance (Emerald Finance).
Citrine also has interests in mining, including partnerships with Anglo American. It has a substantial real estate portfolio. Kabeke leads Citrine's day to day operations. Kabeke has a BA in Business Management from Simon Fraser University, and a BBA in Business Administration from Hult International Business School.
